Arbour day at the Faerie Glen Nature Reserve

On Saturday 7 September the Friends of the Faerie Glen Nature Reserve together with the Dendrological Society celebrated Arbour day at the reserve.

3 Trees were planted on the lawn area in front of the entrance building: Jacket-plum / Doppruim (Pappea capensis), Red ivory / Rooi-ivoor (Berchemia zeyheri) and Common wild pear / Gewone Drolpeer (Dombeya rotundifolia). We thank Danie van Eeden, owner of the Wild Route Nursery for sponsoring two of the trees.

Professor André de Villiers and Izak van der Merwe, both members of the Dendrological Society, each spoke a few words on this occasion. After the trees were planted and watered, a guided walk commenced, which was made very interesting by the knowledgeable group of people. We hope to do the same again next year.
